Steering Stops

Tires rubbing the frame and swaybar are a common problem when wider than stock sized tires are used. For example: 255/60-15 or 255/50-17 tires. The pictures below show a Impala SS wheel with, I assume, a stock sized tire mounted on it, 255/50-17. If you look at the picture below, it's obvious that the steering stop built into the lower A-arm gets badly deformed and allows the wheels to turn way beyond the normal limits. GM came up with some parts to help alleviate the problem. These parts have been around for a LONG time, so this problem isn't something new. |
